The leather jackets became more and more popular during the interbellum. People outside the army began to wear a leather jacket as a fashion item. In 1928 a designer made a leather jacket on behalf of the motorcyclemanufacturer Harley Davidson. It was the first jacket with an asymmetrical zipper.

The SEVENTIES were thè golden years of leather. A black leather jacket was a basic rockstar-outfit inspired of the Ramones. There were leather pants, jumpsuits, jackets. At some point David Bowie wore a leather raincoat.
This period covers the DISCO scene. This decade was leathes less popular. People preferred flared pants above a leather jacket. BUT, in 1983 Michael Jackson produced the legendary music video Thriller. This was a red leather jacket which was especially designed for him.
What a time to be alive. The nineties were the decade that everything was allowed. People were free and leather was something everybody could wear and not only the rock-n-roll type of people.
